In the early ’90s, stepping into the realm of fitness and nutrition was like charting unknown territory. Rujuta Diwekar recalls, “Back then if you weren’t cut out for the mainstream professions… fitness seemed like the last resort.”

Her journey took a significant turn when she discovered a fitness training course advertised in a newspaper. The course promised a new beginning, a chance to become a fitness trainer, which piqued her interest instantly.

“Even in my 10th standard, I was ready to throw in the towel and dive into fitness training… Yet, coming from a family that puts a high value on academics, my mother wasn’t having any of it. ‘No way,’ she said. ‘You’re finishing your graduation first,'” Rujuta reminisces on the tug-of-war between her dreams and her family’s academic aspirations.

The Classroom of Seven
Pursuing higher education in sports science and nutrition, Rujuta found herself in an almost deserted classroom. With only seven students, the lack of enthusiasm for this field was palpable. “No one really looked at sports science and nutrition as something that they should be going after,” Rujuta recalls, illustrating the solitude and determination that marked this phase of her journey.
